uusi tyynynpäällinen / new pillow cover – Hys!
Ompelin vihdoinkin valmiiksi tyynynpäällisen valmiiksi tikatusta tilkkupinnasta, jonka sain uusiseelantilaiselta tilkkuystävältäni Liziltä vuoden 2015 jouluna. Tässä siis Hys! -tyynynpäällinen.
At last I brought myself to sew a pillow cover from the lovely quilted surface that I got from my quilting friend Liz from New Zealand for Christmas 2015. Introducing the Hys! pillow case (”hys” is ”shush” in Finnish, and her blog is/was called Shush! I’m quilting).
Keskeneräinen, tai siis kokonaan aloittamaton projektini on vaivannut minua jo pitkään, sillä muistan hyvin tähän liittyvän lupaukseni. Tai siis eihän se ollut edes lupaus, vaan peräti vannoin ompelevani hänen tilkkupinnastaan upean tyynyn.
No, tyynystä tulikin upea, kiitos hänen käsityölleen, ja myös on upeaa, että sain projektin vihdoinkin päätökseen!
The work in progress, or rather, the work never started has bothered me a long time because I do remember the promise I made related to this. Actually, it was not even a promise: I swore that I would sew an awesome pillow using her lovely surface.
The pillow is awesome, thanks to her work, and it is also awesome that I finally finished this project!
Taustakappaleena on jälleen Miehen käytöstä poistamasta paidasta leikattu pala nappilistoineen. Paitakangas ei sovi upeaan etupuoleen mitenkään täydellisesti (ja se näyttää lisäksi pinkeältä), mutta sain sillä tavalla tyynyn nopeammin valmiiksi. Nopea suoritus oli tärkeää, koska tämä oli ollut aloittamatta jo yli kolme vuotta!
The back piece has again been cut from a shirt that Husband no longer wanted to use. The shirt fabric is not a perfect match for the front (and the buttons look like they're ready to burst), but using it meant that I could finish the pillow case much faster! And speed was of the essence. After all, this had been an unstarted project for more than three years already!
Lupasin myös, että karseat ja sekalaiset lirutyynyni saisivat lähtöpassit sängyltä, ja että uusi tyyny aloittaisi Uuden, Yhteensopivan Ajan. Tässä blogikirjoituksessani paljastan lähtötilanteen tuolloin vuonna 2015.
My other promise was to chuck the awful hotchpotch of flat pillows from the bed, and that the new pillow would launch the New Coordinated Time for the pillows on the bed. This blog post reveals the situation back in 2015.
Olenkin tyytyväinen kokonaisuuteen. Kuusikulmioin applikoitu Huippu-tyynynpäällinen, Kissa mustikassa –tyynynpäällinen ja vielä Hys-tyynynpäällinen näyttävät oikein kivoilta Kaikki pallot ilmassa –tilkkupeitolla.
I am so happy with this set! The hexagon appliqued ”The Top” pillowcase, ”Cat Picking Blueberries” pillowcase and the ”Shush” pillowcase look very nice on the ”All the Balls in the Air” quilt.
